[Wrap-Up] February 2019

March 1, 2019      Erica Robyn      30 Comments

Phew, this month FLEW by! Alex and I were crazy busy, but overall it was a very productive month!

Alex and I started the month by visiting the Ice Castles. For five years, I have been asking him to take me. He kept telling me I would be miserable there, and folks, he was correct. I was miserably cold though I greatly appreciate the change to finally visit. Even though I was wearing two layers of socks and boots, my toes were in SO much pain from the cold. But we got some lovely photos and it was great to finally see all of the ice after waiting so long to go!

The next day, we attended a Superbowl party which isn’t my thing, but I enjoyed being there!

The following weekend, Alex and I celebrated our dateaversary! This is our big celebration together anniversary-wise. We go back to the restaurant where we first met in person every year. This was our first trip there as a married couple!

That same weekend, I had a lovely and delicious Galentines tea party date with my friend Amber! I cannot wait to do that again soon! We had finger sandwiches, little desserts, and three delicious teas!

We also had some strange weather this month, and lots of ice! I’m SO over the ice!

Without further delay, let’s dive in to my monthly wrap-up!

My Reading Breakdown for February:

  • 5 Stars- 2
    • The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor
    • Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah
  • 4 Stars- 2
    • The End of the World is Nigh by Tony Moyle
    • Threshold by J.M. Kaukola
  • 3 Stars-Β 0
  • 2 Stars- 2
    • Once A Liar by A.F. Brady
    • Still Lives by Maria Hummel
  • 1 Star-Β 1
    • Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter

Monthly Musings

Watching:

Hell Fest (2018 Film)
Oh my gosh, I LOVED this movie! The setting was wonderful, the plot was horrifying, the acting was really good, and the gore was perfect. I very highly recommend this one to fans of horror! This one is going to stick with me for a very long time. 5/5

Cellular (2004 Film)
I had seen this one before, but I couldn’t really remember it. Not a bad movie. I love Chris Evans, so I’m a bit biased. 3/5

A Series of Unfortunate Events- Season 3 (2019 Netflix Series)
I’m so sad that the series has come to an end, but I’m also so thankful that Netflix recreated this one. They did an excellent job! Each of the actors were insanely perfect for their roles! 5/5

The Umbrella Academy (2019 Netflix Series)
After really disliking the graphic novel, I wasn’t so sure I wanted to give this one a try… but we did. Alex and I LOVED it! We can’t wait for season two!

Push (2009 Film)
The soundtrack to this one was awesome! The casting was also great! I enjoyed the plot and the action fine, and the powers were interesting! But the camera work was very hard for me to watch because it was so jumpy. 3/5

Playing:

I’ve been playing The Room Two. If you enjoy puzzles that are all about attention to detail, I highly recommend checking this series out!

Drinking:

There was a lot of tea drinking going on this month! At the Galentines tea party I had a chocolate strawberry black tea, a pomegranate green tea, and a fruit blend tea. The pomegranate green tea was my favorite out of the bunch!

I’ve also been totally hooked on this amazing Green Tea Matcha with toasted rice!

Listening to:

I have been super hooked on this song from a local NH artist that just makes me smile every time I hear it! It was also filmed in the city where I live πŸ™‚

Monthly bookish related haul:

Book of the Month:

This month, I snagged Early Riser by Jasper Fforde, but I haven’t yet been able to dive it.

Book Club:

I missed book club this month πŸ™ I read the book pick, Still Lives, but I was feeling a bit sick the day of the event, and didn’t want to risk passing it on.

My favorite bookish photo this month:

I took this photo to be used for my feature: “Upcoming Releases I Can’t Wait To Read” and I’m really digging it! It was a surprisingly difficult photo to take, but I love how it turned out!

Looking forward to:

Ooh… What am I looking forward to in March? Alex and I don’t have much planned just yet. We have a game night tentatively planned for one weekend.

Then of course, I’m looking forward to the first day of spring! Bring on the warmer weather!

We’ve had lots and lots of rain, but it is looking like spring around here. I adopted a new kitty on Wednesday – he’s a love bug, but super shy. I think he’ll fit in well once he comes out of his shell. See what I read and more.

We’ve been watching The Umbrella Academy, too, and are really enjoying it! We haven’t had a bad winter, weather-wise, but we are supposed to get some snow this weekend.

Yay!! Enjoy the show! I read Volume One of the Umbrella Academy and actually hated it, and I very rarely say that I “hate” books… I’m a bit curious now that I have seen the show if rereading would be a different experience.

I really enjoyed The Umbrella Academy, especially Klaus. I still need to finish season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

I like the ice castle. I’m just waiting summer to arrive and this coldness to end πŸ˜€

Sounds like you had a great month. I think I’d be miserable at the Ice Castles too, although the idea of it has always fascinated me.

I watched the trailer for Umbrella Academy last night and was trying to decide whether or not I want to watch the series. After reading your post, I think I’m going to give it a try.
