I am currently open to beta reading!
Please note: I am only able to accept one beta read a month.
I prefer to work with authors that I have either worked with before, read before, or have talked with either in person or via social media so we have a bit of a connection already.
If you hit one of those checkmarks, please feel free to reach out to me directly via email at any time: firstname.lastname@example.org
My Beta Reading Policy
Genres I Accept
I mainly focus on the many subgenres of horror when it comes to beta reading.
I am totally willing to work with you on the format. I have previously used Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and PDF formats.
My Beta Reading Process
I do request as much lead time as possible to make sure I can properly make time for your work and not rush it in any way. If you need a quick turnaround, feel free to let me know and we can see if I would be able to hit the deadline as my availability will depend on what my current schedule is.
Once I have completed reading your manuscript, I will send over:
- A list of my reactions that I had while reading
- A list of typos or odd formatting I spotted
- Anything I would like to see expanded or buttoned up
- Anything that didn’t work for me that you may want to review*
- Other notes as appropriate or requested by the author
* Of course, I don’t expect my suggestions to be taken! I’m just happy to help as I can.
If the read seems to be almost ready for publishing, and I am confident that my review notes won’t change much, I will typically write up a review to hold on my blog until you are ready to start promoting the book. I will then re-read the story if I am able and I will work with you to determine how to move forward there when the time comes.
Note: I am still pretty new to beta reading and I am adjusting my process as I go. Stay tuned for updates and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments!
Authors I Have Worked With
Major shout-out to each of these wonderful people for giving me the opportunity to beta read their work!
