[Wrap-Up] February 2018

Wrap-Up for February 2018

Ah, the end of February always sneaks up on me. This month was so insanely busy, but overall it was a good month!

My new job is going very well. I absolutely love the company I work for. Alex and I celebrated our 4 year dateaversary. Wedding plans are slowly coming together. The Walk Dead returned. And the best part of my month, my stress levels are down! My stress level still isn’t exactly where I want it to be… but compared to where things were this time last month, I’m in a much better place!

My reading took a bit of a hit this month though. I’m behind in my honest reviews again, but I’m hoping to catch back up this month!

Let’s dive in to my monthly wrap-up!

My Reading Breakdown for February:

  • 5 Stars- 3
    • Force of Nature by Jane Harper
    • The Last Straw by Ed Duncan
    • Space Dumplins by Craig Thompson
  • 4 Stars- 2
    • Act One, Scene One-Murder by A.H. Richardson
    • Chromosomes by Ashleigh Reynolds
  • 3 Stars- 0
  • 2 Stars- 3
    • Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel
    • The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
    • The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
  • 1 Star- 1
    • The Unwritten, Vol. 1: Tommy Taylor and the Bogus Identity
  • DNF- 0

Monthly Musings:
  • Watching:
      • Black Panther (2018 Film)
        • I liked literally everything about this film. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like! For a first movie in this characters story arc, I thought it was especially incredible. It gave just enough backstory without straying into info-dumping or falling short and being confusing like other superhero movies. The casting and acting was awesome. The soundtrack was beyond perfect and I loved that the main characters song kept coming into play. The camera work flowed well and the colors were stunning. The special effects were also juuuust right, not too overdone like Wonder Woman or Civil War. 5/5
      • Playing:
        • n/a this month
        • Drinking:
          • More sparkling water! I’m addicted to the awesome machine at my work where you can customize the flavor levels and choose sparking or plain.
          • Listening to:
            • This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab, narrated by Therese Plummer
            • Books In The Freezer had an awesome episode featuring one of my favorite Booktubers, Cameron Chaney of bookmovieguy.
          • In the bookish community:
            • We got a peek into the Birdbox film.
            • On February 13th, I hit 100,000 views here on my blog! Thank you all!
            • We got the trailer for The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society!
            • We also got the official trailer for Fahrenheit 451!
            • Shout-out to Amy of A Magical World of Words for mentioning me in “Around the Blogosphere” in her Weekly Round-Up.
            • Angela of Musings of a Literary Wanderer posted a wonderful bookish discussion: 4 Strategies For Making More Time To Read.

            • Getting caught up on my reading! I’ve fallen so behind trying to adjust to my new schedule.

I like your rating run down! I’m surprised Fun Home only had two stars; I love that graphic novel! I’m drinking more sparkling water too!

Thank you! Yeah, Fun Home just wasn't up my alley. I had heard so many great things, so I was quite surprised by my overall thoughts as well!

Sounds like February was a great month all around and I'm glad your stress levels are going down. I'm also glad to see Space Dumplins as one of your 5/5 reads. You know, February is our dateaversary month well but it's been much longer than 4 years 🙂 I bet you are thrilled to have your wedding grow closer and closer and I do hope you share some pics. Our wedding was rather small and I am very grateful. I still have to see The Black Panther. Hope you have a wonderful March!

I'm glad wedding planning is going well! I was just recently asked to be a friend's maid of honor and I'm so excited!! I hope you find some more reading time this month – but that's awesome you love your new job so much! I'm so excited for the movie Bird Box. I just loved that book. I still need to see Black Panther!

I am glad to hear your new job is going well, Erica. We recently had a switch in managers and the jury is still out on how that will work out. I'm optimistic though as I've worked with her before. I really want to see Black Panther, but am not sure when that will happen. I hope you have a great month of March!
