The Video Store Massacre by Michael Grimala is a terror and darkness-filled tale about a small town and the trouble that rises up when something long buried is brought back into the light.
Let’s dive in!
My Thoughts on The Video Store Massacre by Michael Grimala –
As the new kid in town, Calbert is hoping to make some friends. While out exploring the town, he comes across some kids and he’s immediately welcomed into their horror-obsessed group, as they give him a crash course in the genre. But in just their first night hanging out, something comes over Calbert, and he ends up in the woods digging up an old camera.
Before they know it, each of them are running from much more than just the grouchy and controlling principal.
I’m SO FAR BEHIND in my blogging, but when I just sat down to finally finish up this post, all the terror from this read flooded back and I literally got chills.
While reading, I was so invested in each of these characters. While I was super curious to learn more about each of them, I was also very nervous once I realized their personal fears were in play. My heart broke for them over and over again as the author let us gain more insight into their pasts.
I will admit, I always hope for a sugary-sweet happy ending with horror reads, even though I just know that likely won’t be the case. This tale took me on such an intense journey. I cannot recommend this one highly enough!
My Favorite Passages from The Video Store Massacre –
Most of what I highlighted were spoilers, so I will leave us all with just this one beauty:
“And as we know, all great plans heavily feature the word ‘almost,” Harvey said.
