Book Blogger Hop
Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a question and join a "hop". The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another.
This Week's Question:
How do you handle negative comments left on your blog?
My Answer:
So far I have been very lucky to have avoided any negative comments. *knocks on wood*
But my answer here is really short and sweet: I will delete any negative comments if someone is clearly just here to start drama. I like to keep all of my social media platforms positive and fun, so that will be the same case here on my blog.
Thanks for reading!

Nice answer, Erica! This is exactly how I feel. There's already too much drama offline, with people in our lives. We sure don't need more online! Lol.
ReplyDeleteDeleting very offensive, drama-filled comments is the best thing to do. Confronting such commenters just creates MORE drama, lol. And it doesn't create a very good impression for a blog or its creator.
Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!! <3 :)
I 100% agree! :) Thanks for commenting and have a great weekend as well!
DeleteI'm the same way though also thankfully I haven't gotten many either. I really haven't seen many comments I'd consider negative on any book blog though I see plenty on food and fashion blogs. My theory is that book people are just nicer!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that earlier today! It really is an incredible crowd!
DeleteI wish my bookish Facebook groups were as friendly as the blogging scene! :)
I really haven't had to deal with negative comments on my blogs either. But like you, I'm willing to delete comments that are just baiting, as I do on my Facebook page. Good answer!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteTotally agree...no sense causing drama.
ReplyDeleteI am a positive person and don't like conflict. I would just ignore and delete the comment.
Have a great weekend.
Happy Hopping!!

Great answer! I do the same thing too! I don't like any kind of drama on my blog, so I will delete a comment if it's going to cause some drama.

DeleteI feel like just writing, "Amen!" and leaving it at that. :-) I completely agree.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful week, Erica.
:) You have a wonderful week as well! Thanks for commenting.
DeleteHere's hoping you never have to experience a negative comment. I've experienced a few--an anonymous person using a racial slur in my general direction on a book review. Even though I deleted it, it was hard not to wonder what I'd done to provoke that person.

Oh my goodness... I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I've dealt with that garbage in general social media, but luckily not on this blog.
DeleteExcellent answer! We moderate our own blogs, and deleting things that aren't appropriate is entirely up to us :)
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI have only had two whoppers in over two years and I deleted them both. I do get some passive aggressive comments on the blog now and then and I reply with a simple, "Really?"
ReplyDeletehahaha oh no. Passive aggressing things are so annoying.
DeleteI am with you, comments will be deleted if it's there to start trouble. I'm all about opening discussions with different perspectives but I am not about bullying. Great answer!
