[Bookish Event] Josh Malerman at Gibson’s Bookstore

October 14, 2022      Erica Robyn      1 Comment

Per usual, Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, New Hampshire has absolutely crushed it with their book events! Last night, they hosted the incredible Josh Malerman.

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on the Chat with Josh Malerman, Hosted by Ryan of Gibson’s Bookstore

The weather was rainy, foggy, and chilly. But that only added to the atmosphere for this bookish event!

Right at 6:30pm, Gibson’s events coordinator extraordinaire, Elizabeth, kicked off the event by welcoming us all before passing the mic over to Gibson’s Queen of Scream, Ryan.

We were all there to celebrate the release of Josh Malerman’s latest horror novel, Daphne. Ryan asked Josh some amazing questions that had the whole crowd laughing. Many stories were told, so much fun was had, and of course, there was a lot of spookiness!

Josh Malerman is such a peach of a human being. He’s kind, funny, and clearly, he tells wonderful stories. There was SO much laughter during this event. Example below:

One of my favorite things that was discussed was anxiety. I really appreciated Josh’s honesty and transparency around his anxieties and how it played into his latest book. As someone that struggles with anxiety, I could relate to a lot of what he said!

If you’d like to watch the event, Gibson’s has it on their Youtube channel now!

After the chat and the Q&A, it was time for the book signing! I had brought two books with me, but only pulled out one. I just couldn’t pass up getting my copy of Bird Box signed along with my new copy of Daphne.

Speaking of, Josh took his time with my copy of Bird Box, looking over the hardcover. We got to briefly chat about how stunning that edition was. Seriously, if you haven’t seen it, try to find one! From the cutout in the dust jacket, to the illustrations on each chapter, this one is a beauty!

He also took a moment to pose for Ryan with my two books!

I’m so grateful to have these signed copies on my shelf now!

This was such a great event! Per usual, I got quite starstruck, but it was a blast to see the Gibson’s staff in person. Sam commented that they knew me just by my name with how many books that I order from Gibson’s! Oops! 🙂

I already can’t wait for their next event!

Snag your copy of one of Josh’s books now!

While supplies last, Gibson’s will be selling signed copies of many of Josh’s books! Check out their website to see what’s available before they sell out!

Thanks for reading!
