Oh my gosh! It’s about time I made it to Water Street Bookstore! I’m just kicking myself for taking so long. I mean, the number of times I’ve blown past the Exeter exit while traveling back and forth on Route 101…
I didn’t take nearly as many shots as I should have. Guess this calls for another visit soon!
Let’s dive in!
Visiting Water Street Bookstore
When I arrived in Exeter, it was already dark. It was also quite cold! So when I parked my car, I hurried across the street to enter the shop.
Right away, I was greeted by the owner, Daniel Chartrand. We had a brief conversation, but I was already feeling very welcomed!
I started poking around and I was so excited to see how they had the shop organized. Each section of books had the yellow headers or other signage ti indicate what you were looking at.
Of course, I found one of my favorite sections pretty quickly… The Mystery section!
I also zeroed right in on the indie and local section! I love when bookstores have sections like this!
Throughout the store, I loved reading the little notes about the books. They were EVERYWHERE! I’m sure if I had spent more time reading more of them, that I would have left the shop with a larger stack of books!
As it was… This one got me. I picked the book up immediately!
Another section that drew me right in was this one with Graphic Novels and Joe Hill’s works!
I already own all of Joe’s books as well as the Locke & Key Graphic Novels, but I snagged one that I didn’t own; Tales from the Darkside illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez.
They also had an awesome Bargain Book section! I’m feeling pretty silly that I didn’t spend more time looking at this section… I’m seeing quite a few titles in this photo that I should have snagged!
They also had wonderful Middle Grade, Young Adult and Children’s sections!
Of course, there were also a number of wonderful items throughout the store; bookmarks, socks, cards, puzzles, prints, pouches and totes, pens, mugs, journals and notebooks, bookends, pins, gift wrap and other supplies, and SO much more!
To say that I loved this store would be quite the understatement. The layout was wonderful, their stock was excellent, and the staff was very friendly! I CANNOT wait to go back!
I ended up leaving the shop with a bag full of goodies! To check out what I got, feel free to read my post, Meeting Gregory Bastianelli @ Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, NH, where I’ve got a shot of the book spines!
As I was putting this post together, I announced to my husband that I want to go back and get all my holiday shopping done! (Yes, yes, I know, it’s only February! I get things done wicked early each year in order to properly enjoy the holiday season without the shopping! I have everything done before Thanksgiving. And hey, Shop Local!)
Thanks for reading!

What an awesome bookstore. I used to live in FL where we only had a B&N but now I’m in the PNW and there are more independent book stores than I’ll ever have time to visit lol
I’ve been to a few of the smaller ones but I really want to get to Powells Books one day.

I like a book shop that has distinct sections and is well marked. Pity I never get to visit any as we rarely get out and about much! I do love the sleepy teddy bear sitting surrounded by books! I always feel compelled to check out every bargain bin in book shops to find some bargains.

Have you been to any of the Toadstool bookshops? Just wondering how those compare to this. Exeter is a bit out of my way, but with a Toadstool right in Nashua, that’s only 20 minutes away. It’s where I tend to buy my journals now, as I can never count on Amazon having them in stock.

I haven’t but I need to!!
