My First Book Of The Month Box

July 15, 2018      Erica Robyn      28 Comments

I had been thinking about subscribing to Book of the Month for a while. The pricing wasn’t bad, but with how tight our budget is with the upcoming wedding, I didn’t want to risk it.

Besides, I very rarely buy new books. I mostly check them out from the library or snag them from used book stores, only purchasing books that I know I will reread time and time again. Or at least that’s what I try to do. Ha! Of course I will snag a brand new book that I just couldn’t wait to get from the library on occasion.

But then on my birthday, my wonderful fiancé gifted me a six-month subscription!

My First Book Of The Month Box

I was ecstatic! I kept running over and hugging Alex on the day he gifted this to me, constantly interrupting his video game session with the boys.

After that excitement wore off a bit, the countdown to receiving the box was on…

Coming home from work on a rather rough day all around, a Friday the 13th of course, I was thrilled to see the box in our mailbox!

My first BOTM
If you saw the options for this month, I’m sure you already have a feeling about which book I picked…
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sagar BOTM
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager of course!
I had already read this book during a book tour, but I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy! So this month’s pick was a no-brainer for me! Click here if you missed my review of The Last Time I Lied.
Also in this box, was a fun bookmark with a quote from J.K. Rowling.
BOTM imprint and July bookmark

One of my favorite things about this experience so far is how the books are branded. I LOVE the BOTM logo to begin with, so of course I loved discovering that it is set into the cover of the book under the dust cover along with the month the book was part of the program.

I also really enjoy that the BOTM imprint is on the spine and the cover, in a color that matches another element that was already on the cover. Staying in the color scheme makes it all flow so well together.

I cannot wait for my second box!

Thanks for reading!

I've thought about joining, but I am trying to save money as much as I can so maybe in the future. I'd totally have chosen this book though; I NEED to read it!! 🙂

Yeah, money is so tricky!! For the watermarks, I designed my little logo in Canva, then used photoshop to erase the background and then I drop it on top of another image file and edit the gradient to make it more see-through 🙂

I was a member of BOTM clubs years and years ago (dating myself!) but not now. Looks cool with choices and fun little additions. Have fun with it!

I've thought about trying it for a short time, but I don't know if I can justify the cost. It's an awesome gift idea! Kudos to your fiancé!

I've thought about joining (I'm an affiliate for them), but I so rarely get around to the discount books I pick up a couple of times a year. I'm afraid it would just go in my never ending to read pile, never to be read. I love finding books in my mailbox which is the draw of BOTM, so for now I will be content on the occasional print book I get from the publisher.

Ah yeah, that is a bit of a worry for me as well! My TBR pile is out of control, but I think once I finish out the year, and stop accepting honest review requests, I'll be better at keeping up with the books I have coming in 🙂 We'll see though! haha

I have been considering joining a book box subscription, but there are just so many to choose from. I may have to join this one though since I guess we get to choose every month out of 5 books.

It's an awesome deal! You can also add two other books for $9.99 each if you can't pick just one.

This is one of the few book subscriptions I've considered joining because you know beforehand what book you are getting and I love their selection month to month. This looks like such a good thriller book that I'll have to pick up eventually.

What a fun gift. He really is a keeper. I used to subscribe some time ago but canceled to take a break. I'm only getting Nocturnal Reader's Box now but there has been some issues and I'm canceling them for a time too. Hope you enjoy all the books you get the next 5 months.

I LOVE my BOTM subscription!! For one the cost is great when you consider you get hardcovers, and they are usually all the sams height so your BOTM dedicated bookshelf always looks so clean 😉😂

Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collectio Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collection of tales that span numerous dark fears. But as always, even in the darkness, there’s a bit of light.

In the foreword, the author warns that this is a book of fears, and boy does he play on fears wonderfully! Each tale is presented to readers in the first person to really get readers in the characters shoes. Please use caution here when you dive in. The author does not shy away from the darkness.

Phew, this read will take readers on quite the journey! It was the perfect read for a dark and rainy spring weekend.
