[Book Blogger Hop] My Instagram Account Dilemma

June 29, 2018      Erica Robyn      36 Comments

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a question and join a “hop”. The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another.

For this week’s question, Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews asks:

Do you have an Instagram account? If so, do you only follow book folks?

My answer:

Yes, I have an Instagram account. Two actually, but neither account is simply a bookstagram account; one is my general account, and another is my photography account. I follow all kinds of accounts using my main Instagram account, and for my photography one, I follow other photographers and my clients.

This question is so interesting because I have actually been debating creating a separate one just for my book blog for a few months now… I keep going back to thinking that I’d really rather not have a bunch of different accounts. But who knows, maybe I will create a book account one day!

Thanks for reading!
What do you think? Would you prefer following a bookish Instagram account over a personal one that posts a bit of everything, or do you enjoy getting to know the blogger on a more personal level?

I follow a couple bookish accounts on Instagram, one that is only books and one that adds in the personal aspects at times too. I prefer the one that adds in the personal posts because I am basically fascinated with other people's lives – what they do for fun, are they in school or working, the road trip they're taking. It's nice to know there is a real person behind the posts!

I have two, too. My personal one and my public bookstagram account. I just created an FB page and also have twitter and my blog, I often can't keep up with all of them. I need to get a better system in place to know what works for each platform instead of just winging it.

Yeah, getting a system down is so helpful! I pretty much stick to Twitter and Instagram for bookish related things. I'll post on FB, Google+, and Pinterest, but I don't engage on those platforms very much.

Honestly I think I prefer the accounts that are a mix of both personal and books. It's changes things up a bit. I'm not sure I could handle having multiple accounts but I'm also a bit on the lazy side!

I couldn’t handle more than one account personally but I’d happily follow a strictly bookish account…but I do like getting glimpses into my bookish friends lives too so….

I have two as well! My private, personal Instagram and my public bookstagram. As far as my blogging/book account, I try to only follow other bookish accounts, although a personal post here and there is totally fine with me πŸ™‚

I've got only one IG account and it's a real mix of bookstagram and other random stuff really. I might admit that there's a fair mix of accounts that I follow; animals, books, historians and bucketloads more. πŸ˜›

Since my blog is a mix of personal, blog related, and bookish, I like to follow people who have a mix of things. I mean, just books is fine too but it's nice to really get to know the blogger. Plus, for me, it would be annoying to have more than one to handle so I'm keeping it all together. haha

My brother asked me why I don't have a personal (Lonna) IG account, and my reply was, "Do I need one?" Haha Having two, one for calligraphy and one for books, is way too many work. I keep wanting to merge them.

My Instagram is more personal but also bookish – I generally DON'T put much about myself online even if I appear to give a lot of info. 🀷

I've had to change my handle though… All of my handles before college were my gaming handles and I had to change it so people could connect my blog pen name with my real name. πŸ˜…
