[Top 10 Tuesday] Ten Books I Want My Future Teen To Read

Top 10 Tuesday is created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

For this prompt, I have picked books that I wish I had read when I was a teenager. These are also all books that I think could spark great discussions.

Let’s dive in!

Ten Books I Want My Future Teen To Read

10. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
9. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
8. The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
7. Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
6. The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter

5. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
4. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
3. A List of Cages by Robin Roe
2. Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley
1. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Illustrated by Jim Kay

Thanks for reading!
What book do you wish you could have read as a teen?

I've actually only read two of these, TFIOS and A Monster Calls – and yes, I wish could have read them then.

I read TFIOS and have a copy of The Monster Calls but haven't read it yet. I've heard such good things about Eliza and her Monsters that I'm really not surprised it made your list. Good job!

I've only read a couple of selections on this list. But growing up and moving around (son of an Air Force officer), I missed reading some of the classics as part of the English curriculum. I find myself wishing I could have read To Kill A Mockingbird with my peers and participating in the discussion of it. Or maybe not. Because I might not have liked it as much as I did reading it on my own.

All Of The Cages has such a beautiful cover, but I've never read it… oO And then there's The Fault In Our Stars… I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who wasn't all that sure about the book. I loved reading it, but somehow the hype passed me by. Still love your list tough 🙂 My friend lent me A Monster Calls a few years back and I found it such an interesting read. Especially as it is completely different to what I would usually pick up.

I enjoyed 'Stars' SO much more than I anticipated. Sure it's sad, but there's also a great deal of "joy" in the story because of Hazel and Gus' relationship. Though I've not read them, I've heard great things about Jennifer's and Tamara's books. 🙂

Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collectio Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collection of tales that span numerous dark fears. But as always, even in the darkness, there’s a bit of light.

In the foreword, the author warns that this is a book of fears, and boy does he play on fears wonderfully! Each tale is presented to readers in the first person to really get readers in the characters shoes. Please use caution here when you dive in. The author does not shy away from the darkness.

Phew, this read will take readers on quite the journey! It was the perfect read for a dark and rainy spring weekend.
