My Blogging Accomplishments for the Spring Bloggiesta | 2018

Phew! This week just flew by! I'm so happy with the time I was able to dedicate to improving my blog this week during the Spring Bloggiesta. Thank you all so much for the wonderful discussion and help! I cannot wait for the next event.

If you'd like to check out my introduction post for this event, click here.

When you're ready, let's dive in to see how I did with my goals!

My Blogging Accomplishments for the Spring Bloggiesta

Create audiobook review page.
Complete! It's very simple, but it's there! Feel free to check out my audiobook review page here!

Draft up a few meme posts from future prompts.
Complete! I scheduled out three Book Blogger Hop posts and one Top 10 Tuesday post. Bonus: I also wrote up three discussion posts!

Participate in at least one Bloggiesta Twitter Chat.
Complete! I participated in:
  1. Monday, March 19th, 9pm: Hosted by Michelle and Bearls of Because Reading. This was the opening Twitter party! I had so much fun and this really kicked off the event in a wonderful way.
  2. Thursday, March 22nd, 8pm: Hosted by Suey of Sueys Books. This chat was about pushing through blog slumps and it was such a motivating chat!
  3. Saturday, March 24th, 11am: Hosted by Michelle of Because Reading. This chat was about weekly memes, challenges, and the like. From this chat, I will definitely be looking into a few new memes!
  4. Sunday, March 25th, 4pm: Hosted by Bearls of Because Reading. This was the closing Twitter chat where we discussed blog accessibility and our goal completion.
Clean up my blogging-related email folders.
Complete! I started by reading an awesome post from Stephanie of Cover2CoverBlog, Bloggiesta Mini Challenge: Juggling Life and Blog. From this post, I took inspiration from her inbox discussion and added a couple of folders to my platform. I now have the following:
  1. Archived Items- miscellaneous emails that I no longer need, but would like to keep on file.
  2. Book Blog Related- miscellaneous emails that I still need to resolve.
  3. My Kofi Donations- just to keep track of all donations.
  4. On Hold- reviews and other posts that are currently on hold because of the other person.
  5. Pending Reviews- reviews that I have committed to and added to my schedule.
  6. Review Archive- email threads about reviews that I have completed.
Add missing social media buttons.
Complete! I added a button for BookThinkers. Bonus: I also removed the button that linked to my contact page as it was just taking up unnecessary space.

Gather information about moving to Wordpress?
Complete! Thank you all so much for all the information you sent my way! I had a number of really great discussions! When it all came down to it, I decided to stay on Blogger. It may be very frustrating that my follower count isn't growing as I would like it, but I do love the Blogger platform. And of course there are many other platforms where people can follow me if they choose. I haven't completed ruled a switch out. I may think about it again down the road... But for now I'm happy that I am staying put.

Change the font of my blog.
Additional task, complete!
My goodness! I had no idea how awful my font was on a PC! It looked great on a Macbook! I noticed this during the first Twitter chat because I was using my fiancés computer. My goodness. So sorry about that everyone! I updated the font now to one that looks much better across different platforms.

Thanks for reading!
If you participated, I'd love to hear how successful you were! What was your favorite task that you were able to complete?

  2. Great job on completing all of your tasks. That's awesome! There are definitely some things I need to work on for my blog. I'm currently doing the Mini Blog Ahead so I hope to get as many posts written/scheduled that I can.

  3. You wrote three discussion posts? That's a hell of an accomplishment, congrats!

I'm curious about your blogger v wordpress research. Do people typically follow wordpress blogs over blogger platforms?

    1. Thank you!! :-D I think the presence on Wordpress is just larger in general than the presence on Blogger. So it's difficult to get the direct follower count up.

  4. Wow!! You were amazingly productive! It has never even occurred to me to look at my font on a PC... now I'm scared :O Anyway, I hope that your blogging endeavors continue to be as productive in the future! (:

    1. Right?! It hadn't occurred to me either until I just happened to pull up my site on my fiancés computer! Eek!

  6. Wow, congrats on so much productivity! I sympathize with your choice to stay on Blogger. I also much prefer the platform, especially the level of customization I can do to my blog without paying, but I also don't have many direct followers. Like you say, there are so many platforms for keeping up with blogs! It's hard to give up a system I like when I know there are options for keeping in touch :)

  8. I had updated my archive not too long ago. I felt so accomplished. I hope you did too. That's awesome that you have done some blogging ahead. I only ever have reviews done ahead of time, and right now I have three review to write. My co-blogger contemplated moving to Wordpress a few years ago, when everyone was fleeing blogger, but we decided to stay too.

  10. Sometimes I wish I was on Wordpress because of the high following you get, but I just can't work it haha. Sticking with blogger because it's so easy.
    You've done a lot!

    1. Yeah, I've used Wordpress for other projects and really didn't care for the platform. I can't believe it took me so long to remember that fact! haha :)

  11. Wow, you completed lots of goals last week! I recently moved from Wordpress to Blogger and I love all the plugins and customisation options but is also kind of overwhelming compared to Blogger, which is much simpler and easy to use if you're not into the coding side of things. If you're happy with Blogger and does all you need it to do then there's no real reason to change.

  12. Congratulations!!! This was quite the productive week for you and the blog. I'm sorry to hear that you won't be joining us over at Wordpress, but if you got a good thing going over here at Blogger, then there's definitely no need to change things. :-)
