Amityville Awakens by Robert P. Ottone is a tale of a haunted house, it’s horror-filled history, and the misguided thought that by tearing it down, the town would heal. Of course, they had no idea of what brutal events would occur next…

Content Warnings: Death of children. Death of parents. Sexual assault.

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on Amityville Awakens by Robert P. Ottone –

Every town has one. That one house that is rumored to be haunted, that sits abandoned and only gathers more and more lore as time goes on. But in this town, the townspeople are about to learn that these rumors hold more truth than they are willing to believe.

Soon, people begin disappearing, and a gross-smelling patch of black is the only thing left behind. Only one kid can see the cause of the horror, but will his parents and the townspeople believe him in time to save those that are still alive?

The opening sequence has such a fun way of setting the horror scene as we learn more about the house in snippets. But when we first meet Mickey, I was immediately nervous. Knowing Robert’s style, I knew that was going to switch into full-blown terror pretty quickly, and I was dreading it. I kept repeating in my head, “Don’t hurt the kid!“

There were so many scenes in this tale that gave me goosebumps while reading. They were so perfectly written; you can see it all play out in your mind just perfectly. And even now, weeks after finishing this read, when I recall some scenes while working on this review, I STILL get chills.

That all said, the two of the most terrifying horrors of the tale were characters Meeker and Marvin. Talk about humans being more terrible than the supernatural… These two were something else. I absolutely despised both of them and their terrible traits and kept hoping to see them meet a brutal end.

My Favorite Passages from Amityville Awakens –

As Harbormaster, he was a collector of stories. Never one to experience any on his own.
Until the shadows.
Until the glow.

My Final Thoughts on Amityville Awakens –

Horror fans, if you love anything Amityville-related, this is gonna be a hit for you!
