Visiting Longfellow Books in Portland, Maine

Longfellow Books in Portland Maine - Storefront

Longfellow Books is yet another bookshop that, while I lived in Portland for years, never visited…

I’m so glad that I finally made it in!

Let’s dive in!

Longfellow Books in Portland, Maine

When walking up the path toward the shop, you can spot the book carts right away! I loved that the plant pot and the signage was the same color, and of course the window displays were eye catching.

Right when you enter the shop, the New Hardcover Fiction draws you in. As I was perusing this table, I couldn’t help but keep looking at the book posters on the far wall.

Another section that caught my attention was the section that highlighted staff picks!

As this was a bookshop in a major tourist focused-town, they had the quintessential section about the state with something for everyone!

The signage to direct you to the sections you may be looking for was hung from the ceilings.

They also have a cute children’s section in the back of the store that had books and toys.

Back at the front of the store, there was a lovely bookish gifts section! There were a few things I was just itching to snag here, but I held off. There was also a lovely section with notebooks and cards.

The section that I spent the most time in was the Murder, Mystery and Mayhem section.

Thanks for reading!
I’m just kicking myself for taking so long to stop by this shop! To learn more about Longfellow books, check out their website or Facebook page.

What an awesome looking bookstore! I always like perusing the staff picks section too- I can’t tell you how many times I’ve discovered a book that way! I’d probably get lost in that Mysteries section too. 🙂

Looks like a great place to spend a few hours!

It looks like a wonderful bookstore! The posters on the wall are indeed eye-catching, and I like the staff’s picks.

I wish I had a few of these bookshops to browse in but we only have a Waterstones near us. The next nearest is Glasgow city centre which I hate going near. Expensive and limited parking annoys me!

Ugh! I hope local shops open up in your area soon! I can’t stand limited parking!! That always turns me away!

I love when bookshops have a staff picks section because it shows that the people selling the books are actually readers too.
The t-shirt rack is fab too. I am sorely lacking in bookish clothing!

I love when bookstores have location related books! I got most of my Christmas gifts off the local shelf at this indie bookstore in New Orleans. This store looks gorgeous and impossible to get out of without armfuls of stuff!

Ah, I missed Longfellows, too. We did visit the Green Hand while visiting Portland. It was a pretty curated second-hand bookshop on Congress street. Are you familiar with it?

I LOVE Green Hand. I donated a bunch of my books to them when I moved from Portland to New Hampshire 🙂

Isn’t it funny how you can live near a place like this for so long and never go until you move away? Seems like a fantastic bookstore!

I love book stores SO much! I am so sad that we no longer have a book store in our town. It was such an adorable place with so many wonderful book themed goodies.
