[Top 5 Wednesday] Favorites That Aren’t Books

top 5 wednesday favorites that aren't books

Here we have another Top 5 Wednesday! For those of you that are interested in taking part, check out the Goodreads group here: Top 5 Wednesday.

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorites That Aren’t Books

This week’s prompt:
Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from books and talk about some other things you’ve been obsessed with. These all don’t have to be in the same category. Mix it up! What TV shows have you been enjoying, makeup you’ve been wearing, food you’ve been eating, etc.

5. Unfollowing/Unfriending & Blocking Options on Social Media

This one is a bit of a stretch, but I felt like it needed to be said.

In the past, I would very rarely block anyone on social media. But with how insane the internet has been recently with fake news, incredible ignorance, and all that jazz… I finally did a much needed clean up on all of my social media platforms.

Now don’t get me wrong, I do not block people just because they have a different viewpoint or opinion than I do. The people and pages that I have blocked are the ones that preach love, peace, and acceptance, but then turn around and spew hate and negativity.

There is a huge difference between staying informed and being bombarded with this mess. If you’ve been debating whether or not to do a clean up, I would highly recommend it.

4. The 100 (TV Show)

From the first episode of this show, I was interested in the storyline and I adored the cast. But I also thought a lot of the writing was pretty lame. Especially when it came to the main character, Clarke. I mean, how many times did Clarke come into a situation, make a statement like it was truth just to have someone ask if she’s sure… to which she always responded, “I’m not sure about anything.” Come on…

But I’m finishing up season three now and I’m officially hooked. The second half of this season has been incredible!

3. LU Milk Chocolate European Biscuits

These cookies are so delicious! I picked them up on a whim one day at the store, and now I have to make sure we have a box in the house at all times. Here’s the LU Biscuits Amazon listing.

These cookies are so good that my boyfriend and I can never seem to remember who had how many cookies. One night, we unwrapped a package of six and put three on one side of a plate, and three on the other. I still swear I only ate two, but Alex disagrees. 😂

2. Lemon, Honey, Zen Tea Mix (Hot Drink)

This drink mix is one of my favorites in the winter time! All you need is a lemon, honey, and a Zen teabag.

How to make it:

  • Take a lemon and cut it in half, store one half away, then take the other half and cut off the small end.
  • Use a juicer to squeeze the juice from the lemon over a strainer and into your mug to avoid any chunks or seeds from falling in.
  • Use a spoon to add a half spoonful (or a full if you prefer things sweeter) and put that in the mug.
  • Pour boiling water into your mug and stir the mix until the honey has dissolved.
  • Add the Zen teabag and let it steep for a couple of minutes.
  • Then enjoy!

1. Perpetual Noob (Podcast)

This podcast is hosted by three dudes that play a new, or new-to-them, video game for a week or so and then discuss it together on air. In each episode they cover what they liked, didn’t like, whether or not the game is “noob friendly,” or if they would continue playing.

If you’re a gamer, I highly recommend checking this out on iTunes or ShoutEngine. Here’s a link to their Facebook page as well.

Full disclosure here: my boyfriend, Alex, and two of his friends created this podcast. They are only two episodes in (as of 2/1/17) so they’re still working out some kinks. I’m not really a gamer, but I still love listening to their show! I hope you do as well.

Thanks for reading!

Embracing the unfollow/block button on social media is something I should probably do. Like you, I'm fine with seeing differing opinions but when it's just a lot of hate it can get too much.

Yeah, definitely! Maybe when you have a free hour or so, you can make yourself a nice drink and do a purge!
