Podcast Feature: The Book Riot Podcast

January 22, 2021      Erica Robyn      7 Comments

Book Riot- The Podcast is an awesome bookish podcast hosted by Rebecca Schinsky and Jeff O’Neill. Per their intro, this podcast is “a weekly news and talk show about what’s new, cool, and worth talking about in the world of books and reading.”

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on The Book Riot Podcast

While the hosts mainly discuss things that are going on in the book world, they also have a ton of special features like book recommendations for special times of the year (like holidays or graduation season), best of lists, buy/sell/hold features, specific book discussions for just one title per episode, adaptation discussions, and much more!

I really enjoy this podcast because it helps me to stay on top of bookish news. I really appreciate that the hosts break down the news stories and fully talk them through to both explain what exactly the story means and what their personal thoughts about it are. And of course, as an analytics person, I really appreciate that they discuss and break down statistics every now and again.

If you would like to stay updated on the latest news in the bookish world as a whole, I highly recommend checking this one out!

I think I’ve listened to the general book riot podcast. I usually get my news from the romance branch – When in Romance.

I originally learned who he was after seeing him participate in the KillerCon 2020 Virtual Event. I went to follow him and his publishing house, Perpetual Motion Machine (that he runs with Lori Michelle), immediately after his reading.

Within the PMM publishing house, they also have the imprint, Ghoulish Books, which launched in January of 2022. Max’s latest book, Maggots Screaming!, launched today April 12th, 2022 from that imprint. In celebration, I’m so excited to be sharing this interview with Max!

Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collectio Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collection of tales that span numerous dark fears. But as always, even in the darkness, there’s a bit of light.

In the foreword, the author warns that this is a book of fears, and boy does he play on fears wonderfully! Each tale is presented to readers in the first person to really get readers in the characters shoes. Please use caution here when you dive in. The author does not shy away from the darkness.

Phew, this read will take readers on quite the journey! It was the perfect read for a dark and rainy spring weekend.
