Make Me Read Your Book podcast feature

Only six minutes into the very first episode and I was already obsessed!

Horror fans, this is a podcast that you’ll want to go subscribe to immediately!

Let’s dive in!

My Quick Thoughts on the Make Me Read Your Book Podcast

Make Me Read Your Book Podcast Logo

This podcast is created and hosted by Katie Southard. The goal? To get horror authors to convince Katie and her listeners why we should read their books.

What an awesome idea for a podcast, right?!

Thinking about the first few things I saw before actually listening to an episode… I was super interested by the premise. I’ve listened to many recommendation podcasts before, but never one where the author actually gives recommendations for both their work and works of other authors!

I also loved the artwork for the logo! It’s got a wonderful vibe that it gives off. If there’s ever merch designed for this show, sign me up!

Next, I have to say that I think the intro music rules! I’m a total sucker for a great show theme song, and this is already up there with some of my all time favorites.

The host, Katie Southard, is wonderful. She’s upbeat and fun, and she has such a great vision for this show. As a first time podcaster, you certainly can’t tell that she’s learning as she goes- it all seems so polished!

So far, there are two episodes available:

  • Episode 1: Jonathan Janz
  • Episode 2: Somer Canon

I cannot wait to listen to more and to get to know Katie and other authors in the horror community!

Thanks for reading!

That’s a fun (and useful) premise for a podcast! I’ll try and add it to my queue.

Interesting, I’ve also never listened to a podcast. I’m not even sure where to find one (showing my age).

OMG! I have to listen to this. Thanks for putting it on my radar. Of course, I already love Janz so he wouldn’t have to do much to convince me!

Fun! I like that the author recommends their own books but also other people’s books too! I need to listen to podcasts more.

I originally learned who he was after seeing him participate in the KillerCon 2020 Virtual Event. I went to follow him and his publishing house, Perpetual Motion Machine (that he runs with Lori Michelle), immediately after his reading.

Within the PMM publishing house, they also have the imprint, Ghoulish Books, which launched in January of 2022. Max’s latest book, Maggots Screaming!, launched today April 12th, 2022 from that imprint. In celebration, I’m so excited to be sharing this interview with Max!

Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collectio Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collection of tales that span numerous dark fears. But as always, even in the darkness, there’s a bit of light.

In the foreword, the author warns that this is a book of fears, and boy does he play on fears wonderfully! Each tale is presented to readers in the first person to really get readers in the characters shoes. Please use caution here when you dive in. The author does not shy away from the darkness.

Phew, this read will take readers on quite the journey! It was the perfect read for a dark and rainy spring weekend.
