[Comic Review] Our Final Halloween, Part 2

Our Final Halloween, Book 2 photo

I am SO pumped that the second book in the Our Final Halloween series is out! While I got this one in the mail awhile ago, I held onto it as I wanted to give it a read the week of Halloween.

It was well worth the wait that I forced on myself.

If you missed my review for book one, feel free to check it out here!

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on Our Final Halloween, Part 2

The Team:
Artist and Co-Creator: Michael Lee-Graham
Writer and Co-Creator: Mike Garley
Letters and Logo Design: Mike Stock
Cover Artist: Jess Taylor

Oh my goodness. First of all, a moment of appreciation for this lovely section:

Our Final Halloween Previously page

I love when people include recaps so much!

When the comic begins, we pick up the morning after the group left the house. Still blood-soaked and totally exhausted, we follow one character as she arrives back home and showers. But it’s not long until we learn some devastating news…

As the crew gets together to mourn, they all agree that this battle isn’t over. They decide to go look for more clues, but the blood house isn’t what they were expecting… The fact that all of the blood was gone was the most concerning.

Over the course of this comic, the crew learns a bit more information. But before they do anything else, they’re going to need some help.

Gosh, I CANNOT wait to see what happens next!

Just like the first comic, the color palette and textures used were so wonderful. I loved how each of the panels were organized and how well the storyline flowed.

I mean, just look at the colors from this page:

There was also some humor included that had me laughing right out loud! This quick bit hit me especially hard… I just love a good pun!

This comic had plenty of action and intensity! But the majority of it was definitely getting us ready for what’s coming next.

I loved every second of this read and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Thanks for reading!

Yay for a recap on the first issue! That’s awesome – all books should do that. I think I’d like this one!

I originally learned who he was after seeing him participate in the KillerCon 2020 Virtual Event. I went to follow him and his publishing house, Perpetual Motion Machine (that he runs with Lori Michelle), immediately after his reading.

Within the PMM publishing house, they also have the imprint, Ghoulish Books, which launched in January of 2022. Max’s latest book, Maggots Screaming!, launched today April 12th, 2022 from that imprint. In celebration, I’m so excited to be sharing this interview with Max!

Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collectio Diaries of the Damned by Ivan Radev is a collection of tales that span numerous dark fears. But as always, even in the darkness, there’s a bit of light.

In the foreword, the author warns that this is a book of fears, and boy does he play on fears wonderfully! Each tale is presented to readers in the first person to really get readers in the characters shoes. Please use caution here when you dive in. The author does not shy away from the darkness.

Phew, this read will take readers on quite the journey! It was the perfect read for a dark and rainy spring weekend.
