[Book Blogger Hop] Re-Reading Books

April 28, 2017      Erica Robyn      20 Comments

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a question and join a “hop”. The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another.
This Week’s Question:
How many books have you re-read? If you have re-read books, please tell us the book’s title and why you re-read it.

My Answer:
Oh goodness, there’s no way I could put a number on this! I reread quite a bit.

There’s just something so lovely to me about rereading a book. Some books take me back to a particular time in my life, while others just feel so comforting to jump back into the story. I also like rereading because many times I will find myself picking up on things I missed on my first read. I’ve found that this is the case when I reread books that I originally read while in middle school or high school, but even a few from college when I was so pressed for time that I just couldn’t really give the book my full focus.

But let’s see… I know that I have reread the following, but this is in NO way even close to a full list:

  • Harry Potter Books 1-3 by J.K. Rowling– I was given these three books by a friend who came to visit Maine from LA. I was so in love with the characters and the world that I reread them over and over again that summer. Then of course I continued to reread them before each new book or movie came out.
  • Many books by Michael Crichton– He is one of my favorite authors. His works are so wonderful that I have absolutely no problem taking the time to reread over and over again.
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket– I really don’t know what it is about this series. It’s SO frustrating but I love it so much. I’ve reread this series a bunch of times.
  • The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay– My all time favorite book. The story is just so uplifting and incredible.
  • The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King– My all time favorite horror novel. I will never forget the feeling that I got when I first read this book. Each reread is still just as creepy!
  • Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk– Another of my all time favorite reads.

Thanks for reading!

I reread Agatha Christie for the same reason. There's so many details and bits and pieces that it's almost like reading a new book each time. I've read A Series of Unfortunate Events and enjoyed them. It's definitely a series to be frustrated with but there's so much dark detail I can see why you'd reread them.

I also re-read quite a bit. I love rereading. I tend to reread for comfort. I want to revisit books that I loved because I love the characters, and I also love how comforting it can me. I've reread Harry Potter (especially books 1-3) many times.

I also really enjoy Series of Unfortunate Events, but I've never re-read them.

I totally agree with you about re-reading books. I wish I can re-read my favorites books as well, but sadly I can't because I want to read all the books that I have in my huge tbr pile first, which is ever growing as well. Including books that I have too read for blog tours. But I do skim some of my favorite books just too re-read my favorite quotes and see some of my favorite parts in books that I remember. Have a great weekend and happy blog hopping.

Honestly, I've never been a massive fan of re-reading books. I just have so many potentially unread books that I'm dying to get to that I never fancy picking up a book I've already read. Plus, I very rarely get the same enjoyment out a book the second time round.

The only exception to this is Harry Potter, because I mean, I could read Harry Potter books all day long. It's the nostalgia, I love it!

    What a fantastic answer.

Books you previously read do take you back to a certain time in your life…never even thought of that.

I am sure I miss things the first time around, but I do not go back.

I am really enjoying all of these answers today. Thanks for sharing yours.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Hopping!!

I continually re-read my favorites as well, including several that I read in high school and found that I understood and enjoyed them more as an adult. I've even re-read children's/YA books that I remembered loving.

Oh wow! We have more in common than our first names and love of books! I forgot to add Lemony Snicket to my list. I just adore listening and reading about the Baudelaire children!!

I can see myself re-reading the Harry Potter books. I do want to! I have the audio versions too, and I think it would be fun to re-visit them that way too (which I have yet to do).

I don't re-read a lot of books, and am more of a "someday I will" type. I'm too much in the "I've got the read ALL the books!" mode, which, of course, isn't possible. LOL

I hope you have a great week! Thank you for sharing.
