2 July Book Releases I Can’t Wait To Read

  2 July Book Releases I Can’t Wait To Read

July is going to be a crazy busy month for me, but there are two books that I want to make sure to get my hands on as soon as possible!

One I have actually already read and I LOVED it!

Let's dive in!

2 July Book Releases I Can’t Wait To Read

The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
Expected publication date: July 10th 2018
Genre: Mystery/Thriller

Synopsis:
Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their tiny cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. The games ended when Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin in the dead of night. The last she--or anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips.

Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings--massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. The paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale. When Francesca implores her to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor, Emma sees an opportunity to try to find out what really happened to her friends.

Yet it's immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by memories from fifteen years ago, Emma discovers a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian left behind about the camp's twisted origins. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing threats from both man and nature in the present.

And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale, the more she realizes it may come at a deadly price.

Note:
I've actually already read this one, thanks to The Fantastic Flying Book Club book tour. Stay tuned for my review!

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning
Expected publication date: July 31st 2018
Genre: Fantasy/Retelling

Synopsis:
Everyone knows what happens in the end.
A mermaid, a prince, a true love’s kiss.
But before that young siren’s tale, there were three friends.
One feared, one royal, and one already dead.

~~~~~~~~~~
Ever since her best friend, Anna, drowned, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. A freak. A curse. A witch.
A girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears offshore and, though the girl denies it, Evie is convinced that her best friend actually survived. That her own magic wasn’t so powerless after all. And, as the two girls catch the eyes—and hearts—of two charming princes, Evie believes that she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.
But her new friend has secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad, or on two legs, unless Evie finds a way to help her. Now Evie will do anything to save her friend’s humanity, along with her prince’s heart—harnessing the power of her magic, her ocean, and her love until she discovers, too late, the truth of her bargain.
The rise of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic villainess is a heart-wrenching story of friendship, betrayal, and a girl pushed beyond her limits—to become a monster.
Thanks for reading!
  7. Very curious to see your tour review for Riley Sager's new book! Final Girls was a dud for me, but I liked the general idea behind it, so maybe another book of his would work better. I hope you enjoy Sea Witch too! It wasn't as dark as I was hoping, but it's still a decent Little Mermaid re-telling :)
  12. Yep, I'm anxious for both of these too. I'm willing to give Sager another try after not liking Final Girls - I've heard this one is better. I just finished The Outsider by King while off and LOVED it. Now to stay on a roll!
  13. Sea Witch is super good! I'm on the fence about the new Sager because Final Girls didn't work for me.
    1. I can't wait to get a copy of Sea Witch!! And yeah, I've been hearing that a lot! I'd be hesitant to recommend it to you in that case... It's got a lot of the same tropes as the first book. But I will say that while I really enjoyed Final Girls, I actually liked this one even more! :) If you do pick it up, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
