Holiday Book Drives!

November 19, 2017      Erica Robyn      12 Comments

The Holiday Season is upon us!

I know, I know. I can’t believe it either… I love the holidays but I really wasn’t ready to let Fall go. In New Hampshire, we seemed to go straight from Summer weather to Winter weather, with only a handful of days that truly felt like Fall…

But I digress.

I’m writing today to bring awareness to an annual event that I really love; Holiday Book Drives!

Holiday Book Drives

One of my favorite things about the holidays are all of the book drives that local book stores do! I just can’t help it; I’m a sucker for these types of things!

The other day, I actually went to a bookstore near me just to look to see if the display was set up yet for local Manchester schools. I was so excited to see that it was!

I stood in front of the display for awhile, trying to decide which book I wanted to buy and donate. I finally settled on LEGO Star Wars: A New Hope!

I want to hear from you!
Do you participate in any book drives around the holidays or throughout the year? I’d love to hear about them!

I think it's awesome that these types of things are done. I always try to at least donate a book or two during the season. We also buy some Christmas for our local Humane Society this year. They usually have a wishlist on Amazon and I can order directly from them and have it shipped to them.

Same here! I absolutely love it. And so clever to put them right by the register, so people can impulse donate! πŸ™‚ Oh that sounds awesome! I'll have to keep an eye our for something like that in my area.

The Project Linus chapter that I work with is doing a holiday book drive at Barnes & Noble; I put off buying some books until the dates of their drive, so I can support them a bit!

I love book drives! I was teaching before I had kiddos (decided to stay home with them), and book drives really help. Even though I was a teacher, I would still donate books.

You have a winter? That must be nice. Texas seems to go from hot to warm. I would love to live somewhere that actually had a winter. SNOW! My son has been asking to build a snowman since June.

Oh that's awesome! And oh, want to trade for a season? πŸ˜‰ I think snow is pretty, but I absolutely hate having to deal with it; driving in it, shoveling it, the freezing temperatures… lol!

Weirdly enough these aren't as much of a thing as they used to be in my area… I miss them.

I don't think I've ever been to a bookstore that was doing a holiday book drive, or maybe I just didn't notice them at the time. This is definitely something I'll have to look out for though because I love giving books as gifts.

Have a wonderful week. – Katie

Interesting! I've never seen this in a Canadian bookstore, but it sounds like a lot of fun and great way to give back.
