My Thoughts on Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera –
After Lucy is discovered wandering the streets covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, the world wastes no time deciding she must be the killer. The problem though, is that Lucy has zero memory of what happened that night. Hoping distance will help her heal, she escapes to LA only to be dragged right back home when the hit true‑crime podcast called Listen for the Lie chooses Savvy’s case for its second season. With the host, Ben Owens, digging into every detail, Lucy is forced to confront her past, her trauma, and the terrifying possibility that she might actually be the one responsible.
Narated by January LaVoy & Will Damron, this is an incredible audio experience. The different voices, tones, and podcast segments made the whole story feel so immersive! The way the narrative is interrupted by podcast episodes is so clever. Each one flows seamlessly into the main storyline and adds tension in all the right places.
Lucy’s memory loss is such an interesting element, too. Not knowing whether to trust her, root for her, or fear her kept me on edge the entire time. I was constantly flipping between “she couldn’t have done it” and “oh no… maybe she did.” exactly as the author planned.
