[Comic Review] Our Final Halloween, Part 3

June 16, 2020      Erica Robyn      8 Comments

Do you love Halloween? Well, what if the cherished holiday marked the deadline for something that would change the world as we know it?

In Our Final Halloween, Part 3, that’s exactly what this crew is facing. As they try to find out more information to help save the day, the calendar inches closer and closer to October 31st…

If you missed my reviews for the first two parts, feel free to click below:

  • Part One
  • Part Two

Full Disclosure: I was sent an early copy of this one, but I had also already backed the project on kickstarter! Check out the bottom of this post for the link to learn more!

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on Our Final Halloween, Part 3

The Team:
Artist and Co-Creator: Michael Lee-Graham
Writer and Co-Creator: Mike Garley
Letters and Logo Design: Mike Stock
Cover Artist: Jess Taylor

Before diving into part three, I reread parts one and two…again!

As this is indeed the third part of the series, I recommend skipping this next paragraph if you don’t want any slight spoilers.

As a very light and quick recap- In part one, the story starts with a bang and end with a panel that will make you gasp out loud! In part one, we learned that this group of kids have lost someone and they are fixated on getting their revenge. However, they are stuck with a bit of amnesia, and things aren’t what they seem… but they make it through the night. Then in part two, we see the group headed back to the nightmare house to look for clues. While there, they meet someone who tries to convince them to stay out of this fight. But of course, our crew doesn’t listen. Instead, they dig deeper and obtain something that they hope will help.

Then we’re on to part three!

And speaking of recaps! Just like issue two, we’re given a quick recap before we dive into the next issue, which you all know I always love:

Cut off to avoid spoilers of course!

In this issue, the crew is trying to find answers. Of course, things happen along the way, but it only makes them more determined to figure this thing out.

Per usual, I absolutely loved everything about this issue; from the storyline and the pacing, to the character development and the artwork, and even the placing of all the action words. LIKE ONE SPECIFIC PAGE WHERE TARK WEILDS A KNIFE. Ugh, I can’t wait for you all to see that page!

The artwork is absolutely wonderful. Each page has amazing color choices and textures. I really enjoy how quickly the color usage sets the tone of the scene just from a quick glance!

The artwork overall is just stunning. I mean, just look at this page:

This issue had a great section that depicted the crew’s calendar. This was so fun to read and to see the normal every day items written on the pages right there along with the elements of their main objective. I loved that each of them had written and doodled on the pages!

Just like the other two issues, the humor was still here in full force. I loved the quick bit where Tark wasn’t given a flashlight just so he couldn’t make a pun… but of course he found a way. Tark kills me!

Our Final Halloween Part 3 Tark Pun

From the storyline standpoint, this one covered some major ground as it builds up to what’s coming next! This is yet another issue that you won’t be able to look away from once you begin reading, especially when the scenes are filled with action!

The action-filled and violent scenes were done so perfectly that it really plays out like a film in your head! Compared to the last two, I felt like this one took it up a notch with the darkness and gore. Of course, bearing in mind that on the second page of issue one, everyone was literally covered in blood!

My Final Thoughts on Our Final Halloween, Part 3

This third installment will totally captivate you! You’ll be sitting on the edge of your seat as you devour page after beautiful page.

While still focused mainly on the wonderful friendship and their determination to make things right, the intensity with the situation really ramped up here! I am so excited and nervous to see what happens next!

Thanks for reading!
