A tablet lies on dry grass and surrounded by dandelions in a natural outdoor setting. The screen displays the cover of the book Everybody Is in the Place by Emma J. Gibbon. The cover features a colorful, fantastical illustration of a female figure with glowing eyes and curved horns, holding something mysterious in her hands. Stars and swirling cosmic elements fill the background, giving the cover a magical and otherworldly feel. The title text is in bold, colorful letters across the top and middle, with the author's name at the bottom.

[Book Tag] The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag

December 23, 2017      Erica Robyn      8 Comments

The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag

The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag was created by Trish at Between My Lines. It’s a tag that is just perfect for the holiday season!

Let’s dive in!

The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag

What is your favorite Christmas scene in a book?
The first Christmas scene that came to mind was the first Christmas that Harry spent at Hogwarts. Seeing Harry get gifts that he wasn’t expecting was such a great scene!

Do you have any Christmas book traditions?
I re-read The Nightmare Before Christmas every year during the holiday season (yes, I read it every year around Halloween too). Also, one of my reading buddies and I also exchange books for Christmas every year.

Do you prefer to get presents of book vouchers or books?
Vouchers are always nice, especially because it can be so hard to buy books for people! I know a lot of people hate giving gift cards or cash, but I love it! It’s so fun to get something that I can use to go buy something on my wishlist. But of course, I would never turn down a physical book gift! My friend Heather buys me books and they’re always perfect reads that I may not have picked up otherwise. My fiancé, Alex, takes another route; he snags my Amazon wish list and buys from there so he knows he’s picking something I want.

Do you give books as presents?
Yes! I love choosing the perfect book to gift to friends and family.

What bookish item is on your Christmas wishlist?
I absolutely love bookish candles! On my Etsy wishlist I also have a few bookish scarves, t-shirts, and other items.

What 3 books would you love Santa to have in his sack for you?

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: The Illustrated Edition (Hardcover) by J.K. Rowling,‎ illustrated by Jim Kay
  2. The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
  3. Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 5 (VIZBIG Edition): Dr. Gero’s Laboratory of Terror! by Akira Toriyama

Fake Christmas tree or real Christmas tree?
Fake. The real ones just make too much of a mess! Plus, I have allergies, so that can be an issue with real trees. Alex and I bought a fake one that is pre-lit a couple years ago when it was on sale and we love it! Set up is relatively easy and it looks great! To get the pine smell, we use candles.

What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?
I love spending time with friends and family in December. Because the weather tends to get nasty toward the end of the month, we have always traveled up to see my family earlier in the month. This allows us to stay local for Christmas Day so we can spend the time with Alex’s family. It works out really nicely!

What Christmas book would you recommend?
This year I read Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz. It was a really cute holiday read that I would definitely recommend to people that enjoy cheesy Hallmark-ish movies.

What dish on your Christmas menu are you most looking forward to?
The chocolate treats of course!

When do you open your Christmas gifts?
Alex and I have been opening our gifts for each other on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, depending on when we are scheduled to meet up with his family. Then we open gifts with his family on Christmas day. The gifts we receive from my side of the family… those we try to hold on to until Christmas Eve/Day… but this year we just couldn’t wait! We opened most of them the day we got back from Maine, and one the day after.

What’s your favorite Christmas song?
I really love the classic, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. My favorite version:

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
No way. While snow can be pretty, I just always worry that the snow will ruin our travel plans. Though we are staying local, it’s still a thirty minute drive to get where we need to be. There’s nothing worse than having plans and not being able to get there because of poor weather.

Thanks for reading!

Books and book cards make awesome gifts! I love it when I get a B&N or Amazon card because then it's like book shopping spree lol. And of course getting someone just rhe right book is always a great feeling.

I hope Santa brings you The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet. Love that book!

Merry Christmas, and hope the weather cooperates for you guys.

Right?! And thank you so much! I can't wait to give it a read! If it doesn't make it's way under the tree, I will definitely be buying it post-holidays.

Merry Christmas to you as well!

Amazon wishlists are basically the best things ever. If there are books I want right now, I'd rather my family check out my wishlist and get me those instead of a gift card.

With so many sides of the family to visit, I feel like my husband and I are opening gifts for days!

    Merry Christmas!

Thanks for joining in! Sorry I'm late in visiting. Hope your Christmas turned out as fun as it sounded. And I'm a huge fan of that first Christmas in the Harry Potter books, it was so sweet to see Harry enjoying a Christmas with friends.
