A tablet lies on dry grass and surrounded by dandelions in a natural outdoor setting. The screen displays the cover of the book Everybody Is in the Place by Emma J. Gibbon. The cover features a colorful, fantastical illustration of a female figure with glowing eyes and curved horns, holding something mysterious in her hands. Stars and swirling cosmic elements fill the background, giving the cover a magical and otherworldly feel. The title text is in bold, colorful letters across the top and middle, with the author's name at the bottom.

[Wrap-Up] April 2017

When I wrote up my March Wrap-Up post, I mentioned that I was feeling a bit slumpish. Unfortunately, my slump got much worse and it took over every aspect of my life. I was still able to read a number of books, but the slumpish feeling definitely affected my reading overall.

I also had to put off any honest review requests this month because I didn’t want anything to affect my ratings of those books. So thank you to all for bearing with me!

Here’s to hoping May is a better reading month for me. But let’s get into my wrap-up!

My Rating Breakdown for April:

  • 5 Stars- 3
    • Fables, Vol. 1: Legends in Exile by Bill Willingham (Writer), Lan Medina (Artist), Steve Leialoha (Artist), Craig Hamilton (Artist), James Jean (Cover Artist)
    • Locke & Key, Vol. 5: Clockworks by Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodríguez (Artist)
    • Locke & Key, Vol. 6: Alpha & Omega by Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodríguez (Artist)
  • 4 Stars- 4
    • The Devil Crept In by Ania Ahlborn
    • Locke & Key, Vol. 4: Keys to the Kingdom by Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodríguez (Artist)
    • None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio
    • Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
  • 3 Stars- 0
  • 2 Stars- 0
  • 1 Star- 2
    • Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
    • The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit by Michael Finkel
  • DNF- 3
    • A Separation by Katie Kitamura
    • The Annotated Sandman, Vol. 1 by Neil Gaiman, Leslie S. Klinger (Editor/Annotator)
    • Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

Thanks for reading!

You did really well for being in a slump! I'd be interested to hear if you think the DNF's were related to being in a reading slump, or if you think you would have DNF'ed them anyway?! 🙂

Right?! I totally shocked myself. I really felt like I wasn't getting ANY reading done, but clearly that isn't the case!

I think I would have DNFed those books anyway.

A Separation was so darn boring to me.

The Annotated Sandman was just too much, though I would like to get the normal versions at some point!

And Empress of a Thousand Skies was far too repetitive and boring to me.

      Thanks for stopping by!

Hope May is a great reading month! I've been on the fence about Norse Mythology but after reading your review I'm leaning towards trying it. It would be my first time with Gaiman and I've been wondering which of his books to try, so maybe this is the one.
