Visiting Sherman’s Books & Stationary in Portland Maine

Shermans Books & Stationary, Portland Maine sign

Sherman’s Books is one of my favorite bookshops to visit!

I’m still kicking myself for not visiting as much when I actually lived in Portland, Maine. But now whenever I’m in the area, I try to stop in!

Most recently, I popped in with my friend Heather of Heather’s Reading Hideaway while on a bookstore tour for her Bachelorette Fling!

Let’s dive in!

My Trip to Sherman’s Books

I’m a sucker for a great window display, and the staff of Sherman’s certainly got me with this one! I was super tempted to snag one of those evidence pouches! And seeing SSDGM featured was awesome!

I absolutely LOVED this Halloween related sign and the little pumpkins!

Then you head into the shop… On the right hand side, the window display continues. I spotted a book in this display that I ended up leaving the shop with.

The shop itself is long and a bit narrow, with a side room toward the back. I love walking in and seeing the wall of books, each with a chalkboard to show what each section holds.

I love that the staff has the bestsellers and the recommendations when you walk in right side by side, with each book facing out so you can see the covers! This section almost always gets me to pick something up.

Further down the row, we get to my favorite sections, “Lies & Deceit,” “Still Not True,” and “Mystery & True Crime.”

In the back room of the shop are the Biography & Memoirs, the discounted books, the YA section, the Children’s section, and more!

Of course, Sherman’s is more than just books! They also stock all kinds of goodies that bookish people will love!

One of my favorite areas is this wonderful seaglass jewelry display. It’s all so pretty!

If youโ€™re in the Portland area, I highly recommend stopping in to Sherman’s Bookstore. If you do, Iโ€™d love to see your photos!

Thanks for reading!

I was so excited when I first glanced at the title post because I thought it was Portland, Oregon ha ha! That is just a couple hours away from me. Maine is much, much further though. This book store looks absolutely wonderful! I love finding a good bookstore nearby.

This looks incredible! I love the window display, and the whole place just seems to be packed with bookish goodies and beautiful novels. I’d love to get lost in a space like this!

I would love to browse around that shop! We don’t have a decent bookshop in the area!
