Interupting my usual horror reviews for this amazing tale…

You all… ALLY IS BACK! In The Pursuit of Miracles by Tony Moyle, Ally takes on a new, terrifying case while also facing the biggest challenge of her life: letting someone get close.

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on The Pursuit of Miracles (Ally Oldfield Series Book 3) by Tony Moyle –

While just trying to find some joy while on a terrible vacation, Dr Ally Oldfield is suddenly rescued from her current stressors to face something, in her words, that is more interesting. The journey she’s about to embark on next is another tale of mystery, danger, and the sheer determination to solve what is going on.

She finds herself locked away in a facility to do research, which is already terrifying enough. But soon, of the two colleagues she trusted, one is in a coma, and the other is dead… What happens next is a wild ride where we follow Ally and her hilarious crew as they chase down answers.

I just love this character so much. Her reactions to literally anything are absolute gold. Pairing this amazing character with Tony’s general writing style, you just know you’re in for a treat! I mean… The golf cart and the open grave scene had me cackling. AND That ending! Oh my gosh, I cannot wait to see what’s next!

My Favorite Passages from The Pursuit of Miracles –

Bookshelves of unequal size and shape teetered precariously against each wall and in disorganised rows in the space between, each bursting with leather-bound spines lying at awkward angles. Some volumes piled on top of each other, their covers facing away from any would-be purchaser; others lined up neatly to draw the customer’s eye, but all clung desperately to shelf edges for fear of falling.

She flopped into one of the two bucket chairs next to the window, hot mug of an excuse for coffee in hand, with neither the energy nor the moral fortitude to search for the remote, which Norman usually hid in devilishly secretive places even he couldn’t find.

But there is another very specific category of friend. Everyone has at least one. The ‘I can’t remember for the life of me why we’re friends in the first place’ friend.

Hope, though, will always vanquish logic.

“Accused.”
“Bless you.”
“I’m not sneezing. I’m pointing out that I haven’t killed two people; I’ve been accused of killing them.”

This situation wasn’t out of her comfort zone – it had detached from the atmosphere of her comfort zone and was floating off into deep space.

My Final Thoughts on The Pursuit of Miracles –

I know this isn’t my usual genre anymore as this blog has transitioned to horror, but now and then, I just have to make an exception.

Tony’s work is just SO GOOD. He emailed me when I first started blogging to ask if I would be interested in a book that doesn’t fit neatly into any genre, and that was by far one of the most fun books I have ever read. Since then, I’ve read almost all of Tony’s work (I need to get to Selling Snow to Eskimos!), and I have had an absolute blast. If you haven’t yet, please go check out some of Tony’s work!
