My Thoughts on Kevin J Kennedy Presents: Horror Tales From Wales –
Again, such killer variety in these tales!
The one that is sure to give me nightmares is Bravo by David Watkins! But They Come at Night by Richard Clive is also incredibly chilling and so heartbreaking…
Per usual, here are my notes on each tale!
They Come at Night by Richard Clive –
Telling his friend that children come to haunt his home at night, the friend thinks the homeowner needs to leave this place of grief. But when staying the night, he learns that something does come in the night.
Oofh. This was heartbreaking and so eerie! I was nervous to learn more about what had happened as well as seeing what would happen next!
Dogs of Hell by C L Raven –
Thinking he’s made a suicide pact with his girlfriend, this man is suddenly shocked to see her back out. He was so blinded in his determination to see a mythical hunt, he didn’t even pause to think what his girlfriend actually wanted until it was too late.
The suspense here is wild! My heart was pumping right along with his after hearing his girlfriend’s update. I felt so bad for him, but was also proud of the girl. But everything that happens next had me nervous all over again!
The Vengeance of Black Bart C S Jones –
During a time of war, two siblings are sent away as refugees. Only the sister knows of their father’s fate, so when a couple approaches the boy to get him to go with them, he’s out of the loop and just excited to see his father. His sister knows better but before she can say anything, it’s too late.
My goodness! I love a tale that starts in the middle of the action! What a terrifying start than then bleeds into heartbreak for many different reasons.
Bravo by David Watkins –
In a race across the Himalayas, these three men are looking for a bit of fun. But before they can reach safety for the night, they see red eyes in the darkness of the woods and suddenly realize they’re in some serious trouble.
Absolutely brutal! The tension here kicks in suddenly and only ramps up from there! Ugh I was so hopeful for these guys. What a terrifying tale!
Lunar Eclipse or, Melltith y Ddraig by Lee Allen –
A man just looking for peaceful sleep begins a ritual of walking to an old chapel. One day he finds something that helps fixate his thoughts and turn his nightmares into nice dreams.
This man’s determination was so fun to follow as he went down this path of seduction.
My Favorite Passage from Horror Tales From Wales –
Scarlet droplets stained the snow-shrouded graveyard, artistic in its violent beauty.
— Dogs of Hell by C L Raven
My Final Thoughts on Horror Tales From Wales –
Horror short story fans, this is another collection that needs to be on your radar! While some of these were short and sweet, some were longer. Every one of them was so different from the next and so horrific in its own way!
