IT SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING: A Christmas Horror Story by Gemma Amor features something coming down the chimney. But it’s not Saint Nick and they’re not planning to spread joy…

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on IT SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING: A Christmas Horror Story by Gemma Amor –

Determined to keep his niece safe and happy after she came to live with him, this man is quietly battling his inner demons while gazing into a fireplace. When the girl wakes up late on Christmas Eve and asks him to cover up the fireplace in her room, stating that she found it creepy that a man she doesn’t know can come down the chimney and enter her room while she sleeps, he jumps up to tackle the project.

When Christmas morning arrives, their happiness is shattered by the sound of screams. Being a good man, this gentleman goes out to try to help. Of course, it’s not an easy rescue mission he takes part in next…

This tale was so unsettling. The descriptions Gemma includes put you right into the scenes, whether you’d like to be there or not! All the mentions of the sounds of scuttling had me ready to jump out of my skin!

My Favorite Passages from IT SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING –

In the end, my instincts about him turned out to be right, but I took no comfort in that. No comfort at all.

Alice was excitedly ripping into Mona’s gift when the sound came, high and shrill and insistent. I didn’t pay much attention to it at first, assuming it was over-excited kids down the street goofing around. But then the sound came again, long and loud and… Wrong, somehow. The kind of sound that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stir. The kind of sound that is a harbinger to grief, and lives altered beyond recompense.

I knew that what I was about to see would be terrible. I just didn’t appreciate how….oh, Jesus.

In the stocking at the end of the bed, something long and rigid stuck out, dripping blood onto the floor. I gagged when I recognised it for what it was: a foot, attached to a leg, stuffed into the stocking like a goddamned candy cane.

It was like crossing from a nightmare into a dream where everything felt soft, and fuzzy, and surreal, yet also quietly sinister.

My Final Thoughts on IT SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING –

Looking to add some major bloodshed into your world this holiday season? Look no further. This tale is creepy right from the start and the terror only gets stronger the deeper into the tale you get!

I had so much fun reading this one! And let me tell you, I am so happy that we don’t have an open fireplace in our home after reading this!
