A tablet lies on dry grass and surrounded by dandelions in a natural outdoor setting. The screen displays the cover of the book Everybody Is in the Place by Emma J. Gibbon. The cover features a colorful, fantastical illustration of a female figure with glowing eyes and curved horns, holding something mysterious in her hands. Stars and swirling cosmic elements fill the background, giving the cover a magical and otherworldly feel. The title text is in bold, colorful letters across the top and middle, with the author's name at the bottom.

Instagram Live with Katherine Silva | Book Event

July 13, 2023      Erica Robyn      Leave a Comment

Last night I had the opportunity to participate in an awesome Instagram live event to celebrate the upcoming release of Katherine Silva’s latest novel, The Wild Fall!

Let’s dive in!

Celebrating Katherine Silva’s Upcoming Book: The Wild Fall –

When Katherine reached out to ask if I was interested in doing an Instagram live, I was so excited! I had never done one of these before, so I was a little anxious about messing it up and I also had to let Katherine know that I have been extremely flaky as I never know what to expect day-to-day since finding out I’m pregnant. Of course, she was incredibly kind about that!

I also sent over a couple of names that I knew were huge fans of her work. One of those was Aquino Loayza who immediately said they could join!

On the day of the session, I was very pleased to find that my symptoms were bearable enough to join in! I had my questions prepped and ready to roll, and we all jumped on the stream at 8:30 pm.

After a short introduction, Aquino and I took turns asking Katherine various questions for the majority of the event. I was so excited to see that Aquino and I had very similar thoughts! The three of us also got to talk about Maine and how much we love the state and what it means to us.

My favorite questions that I got to ask during the session included the following:

  • Do you have an “author preferred” order in which each of the books and novellas in The Wild Oblivion series should be read?
  • What scares you the most about the woods in real life, and what scares you the most about the woods in the books?
  • Have you ever scared yourself with your own writing?

Toward the end, a few questions came in from the crew that was tuning in! The first, from Cody J. Thompson, got us kicked off on a chat about music that spilled over into both our group chat and public tweets after the session ended.

We also had a guest appearance from Sushi! How cute is this pug?! I love pugs so darn much… I mean clearly, I had no chill when she popped in!

I had such a blast during this event! It was an honor to meet Katherine and Aquino virtually and participate in the celebration of Katherine’s latest book. I had the chance to read it early, and my goodness… If you haven’t yet picked up The Wild Dark, now’s the time! You can read through it to get ready for book two!

And a major shout-out to the crew that joined us live! I meant to write down usernames as we went, but totally spaced it. A few names I recognized were:

  • Robert P. Ottone
  • Cody J. Thompson
  • Joshua Marsella
  • Todd Keisling

If you were in attendance and would like to send your name over, please do! I missed SO many of you!

If you missed the event, no worries! You can watch the recording now:
