Horror Panel at Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, NH | Book Event

June 30, 2024      Erica Robyn      2 Comments

Oh my gosh. I cannot stop gushing about this event! I had been counting down the days for this horror panel since Ryan of Gibsons first announced it.

As my first evening out since I was just over midway through my pregnancy last summer, this was even more special to me. Last minute, I almost let my separation anxiety from my little dude get to me, but I’m so happy I powered through.

Let’s dive in!

Horror Panel at Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, NH –

When walking into the shop, the first person I saw was Eric LaRocca, who immediately said hello and gave me a hug. What a start to the event! <3 It was so nice to catch up for a few minutes, though I’m pretty sure I rambled terribly! I waved hello to Ali and Momma LaRocca as well.

Next, I spoke with John Durgin and Ryan! We talked about Mave Fly by CJ Leede and then caught up on other things. Throughout the rest of the evening, I was able to chat more with these two each time we crossed paths.

After that, I ran into Gregory Bastianelli! It’s always such a treat to see him out and about!

Then I went to the horror panel display to grab a copy of Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay. I already had all of John and Eric’s books, but I did snag a hardcover copy of This Skin Was Once Mine to replace my ARC copy.

How nice does this display look?!

Then it was time to head over to where the panel would be held. On my way there, I stopped to chat with Gregory and Ryan again about an event later this year after hearing Gregory say, “Erica will be there!” I’m so excited to learn more about the event when it gets announced officially.

Approaching the seating area, I saw two friends waving hello, so I went right over to them. Paul and Mike are some of my favorite people in the horror community and I just love seeing them at events! I’m hoping to get up to Maine to see them again this year for at least one more event!

Soon after that, the panel began! And what an AMAZING panel it was! Ryan asked some killer questions and everyone had such great answers. The three authors had an audience of over 100 people hooked on every word. There were many wonderful moments shared, accompanied by a lot of laughter.

After the panel, it was time for the signings! The line was impressively long and moved pretty quickly. While waiting, I had a moment to catch up with Sam of Gibson’s!

Before I knew it, it was my turn to say hello again to the panelists! These three are seriously some of the kindest people in the horror community, and I am so very grateful that I was able to attend this event to see them all! I could have chatted with them for hours but kept my time with the line short.

Shout-out to Ali for taking this lovely photo for me:

While at the event, I was able to get my copies of Kosa and The Conservators Collection both signed by John Durgin! I also purchased and two additional books to have them signed: This Skin Was Once Mine and Other Disturbances by Eric LaRocca and Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay.

Thanks for reading!
THIS WAS SUCH A FUN EVENT! I still can’t stop smiling. I cannot wait for the episode to go live on The Laydown so I can listen in and relive the event. If you want to listen in, make sure to subscribe today!
