A tablet lies on dry grass and surrounded by dandelions in a natural outdoor setting. The screen displays the cover of the book Everybody Is in the Place by Emma J. Gibbon. The cover features a colorful, fantastical illustration of a female figure with glowing eyes and curved horns, holding something mysterious in her hands. Stars and swirling cosmic elements fill the background, giving the cover a magical and otherworldly feel. The title text is in bold, colorful letters across the top and middle, with the author's name at the bottom.

Feature: Bite-Sized Terror – Beach Vacation Horror Stories

August 13, 2021      Erica Robyn      4 Comments

Have you heard?! There’s a new YouTube channel for Horror Oasis!

The channel was created to be a promotional platform. Live now is an awesome new web series called Bite-Sized Terror where Nick Bouchard narrates short horror fiction stories that were submitted by writers.

If you haven’t subscribed yet, click here to do so or click here to check out the Youtube playlist!

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on Bite-Sized Terror: Beach Vacation Horror

I love this format so much. Each of these stories were less than ten minutes long, making them the perfect tales to pull up every now and again to get a dose of terror. The narrator did an awesome job and the production was wonderful. I loved all of the sound effects that were included as they really added a spooky layer to the tales.

Many of the stories start out calm and it’s a bit relaxing with the sound of the waves, but some kick right off with the action. It was a lot of fun not being able to expect what would come next in the playlist!

My favorites from this include:

  • Shining Bright on the Beach by Alexis Dubon
  • The Vacation by Theresa Jacobs
  • Package Deal by Catt Colborn

Here are my quick thoughts on each tale, numbers one through seven-

Vacations End by Spencer Hamilton –

A couple is relaxing on a beach and one of the men, Adam, is really enjoying his time. This one started out so lovely and calm. But once Adam’s boyfriend began acting a bit strangely, the story took an intense and dark turn. This one certainly makes you wonder if you ever really know someone.

Till Death, Oar Madness by Nick Harper –

This short is about a man who is out at sea and in rough shape. Reading like a fever dream, listeners will wonder what was real and what was a dream.

The Vacation by Theresa Jacobs –

When a survivor of a plane crash realizes that she is desperately alone, she isn’t sure what to do. Thinking back to the zombie movie she has been watching wasn’t helping… Then she see’s something, and decides to follow.

Shining Bright on the Beach by Alexis Dubon –

I loved that as a listener, I wasn’t sure exactly what was happening here until it was made very clear. And phew, as that a shock! I loved the pacing of this one and how suddenly the action happens!

Package Deal by Catt Colborn –

Oh my gosh, these poor twins, but what an awesome tale of revenge!

Making Conversation by Ronaldo Katwaroo –

Woah! What was happening here?!

The Beach House by Jamie Stewart –

My god, that ending.

My Final Thoughts on Beach Vacation Horror Stories

This was such a fun series to listen to! I definitely recommend checking it out. I can’t wait to see if there will be more added in the future.
