Book Review of Last Night at the Lobster by Stewart O'Nan

Last Night at the Lobster by Stewart O’Nan is an interesting look into the lives of the manager and his employees working the very last night before their location is shut down.

I’ve never been to a Red Lobster because I don’t eat seafood, but I was still interested to check this one out when I first heard about it.

Let’s dive in!

My Thoughts on Last Night at the Lobster by Stewart O’Nan

I picked this book up one afternoon and didn’t put it down until I had finished reading the whole thing. I always think it’s so interesting to see little glimpses into other people’s lives; and this certainly gave us an interesting story!

While I didn’t really care much for any of the characters, I did relate to a few of them with my previous work experience.

This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotion; you’ll be sad, you’ll laugh, and your blood will boil. But in the end, you’re going to be happy you took the time to read this.

I would definitely recommend this to all! Especially those that tend to be rude to your waiter/waitress or anyone else in a customer service-related job (seriously, cut that out!).

Red Lobster makes some of the best cheese biscuits that you can find the mix for at most grocery stores (great for meals, even of the non-seafood variety). Great review!

I found your blog through Elgee Writes. I agree with the previous comments- the cheese biscuits are to die for. I've tried to recreate them at home and they're okay but not the same. I like the picture you set up for this book. So appropriate. I agree with you about seeing how other people live.

I've never heard of this book but I have to admit, it does sound like an interesting read. I like character-driven books so it might be worth my while to check it out. And yes, best biscuits EVER!

Was this mostly fictional or non-fic?

      It's fictional but reads a bit like a non-fic.

You know I can't say I've ever read a book set in a Red Lobster… Glad you enjoyed it, Erica!

I don't eat seafood either but I have heard of Red Lobster before (mostly because of Beyonce's song Formation but that's beside the point.) Love the photo you took with the cutlery as well, made me smile 😀 It sounds like a decent read.
