A tablet lies on dry grass and surrounded by dandelions in a natural outdoor setting. The screen displays the cover of the book Everybody Is in the Place by Emma J. Gibbon. The cover features a colorful, fantastical illustration of a female figure with glowing eyes and curved horns, holding something mysterious in her hands. Stars and swirling cosmic elements fill the background, giving the cover a magical and otherworldly feel. The title text is in bold, colorful letters across the top and middle, with the author's name at the bottom.

3 May Book Releases I Can’t Wait To Read

I am SO excited for these new releases! One, I actually jumped up from my computer and bounced around the room when I first heard it was releasing!

Let’s dive in!

3 May Book Releases I Can’t Wait To Read

The Lies They Tell by Gillian French
Expected publication date: May 1st 2018
Genre: YA Mystery

Synopsis:
Everyone in Tenney’s Harbor, Maine, has heard of the Garrison tragedy. A mysterious fire. A family of five reduced to one. For people like Pearl Haskins—whose dad was the caretaker of the Garrison property when the house went up in flames—the whispers about that night are more than upsetting. They hurt. With her disgraced father now trying to find steady work in between booze benders, Pearl is stuck waiting tables at the town’s country club where the rich townspeople come in the summer to flaunt their money and gossip about one another.

This year, a group of privileged boys has made a point of sitting in Pearl’s section—throwing careless insults her way while also attempting to flirt. Though she’s repulsed by everything they stand for, she’s drawn to the quiet leader of the pack, Tristan—the last surviving Garrison. He wasn’t home the night a blaze took his entire family, and the sadness coming off him in waves is hard to ignore. Befriending the summer boys might irk her to her core, but inside their fold of elite parties and reckless whims could be answers to what happened the night of the fire. And that’s just what she finds.

Hidden beneath the glittering façade of wealth and luxury, Pearl discovers a dark and twisted web of lies and betrayals that, once untangled, will leave no life in Tenney’s Harbor unchanged. That is…if it doesn’t take Pearl’s first.

My Notes:
Set in Maine? I’m in! 🙂

The Universe Is Expanding and So Am I (The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things #2) by Carolyn Mackler
Expected publication date: May 29th 2018
Genre: YA Contemporary

Synopsis:
Virginia Shreves’ world implodes again in this long-awaited follow-up to Printz Honoree The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things.

Sixteen-year-old Virginia Shreves’ life is finally back on course: she’s accepted who she is inside and out and is rebuilding her relationship with brother Byron, whose date-rape charge shattered everything.

But just as she adjusts to her new normal, her world turns upside down again. Sparks with boyfriend Froggy fade, her best friend bombshells bad news, and then the police arrest Byron. As Virginia struggles to cope, she meets Nate, an artist with his own baggage. The pair vow not to share personal drama. But secrets have a way of coming out, and theirs could ruin everything.

Just in time for The Earth, My Butt, and Other BIg Round Things’ 15th anniversary, Virginia’s hope-filled story of love, friendship, and the beauty in imperfection continues, by acclaimed author Carolyn Mackler.

My Notes:
I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED FOR THIS ONE! The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things was a book that I passed around to almost everyone in my high school that enjoyed reading, even a few that didn’t normally read outside of school. I’ll have to re-read it before this one comes out. Hopefully it holds up!

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
Expected publication date: May 29th 2018
Genre: Thriller

Synopsis:
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Woman in Cabin 10, and The Lying Game comes Ruth Ware’s highly anticipated fourth novel.

On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person—but also that the cold-reading skills she’s honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money.

Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased…where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it.

Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware’s signature suspenseful style, this is an unputdownable thriller from the Agatha Christie of our time.

My Notes:
I cannot wait to get my hands on this one! I love Ruth Ware!

Thanks for reading!

I think this is going to be my first Ruth Ware read. I'm really exciting. The cover reminds me so much of a Gothic read so I hope my brain hasn't set me up to fail with it!

It sad to admit that I have two Ruth Ware books sitting on my shelf that I still haven't read. The Death of Mrs. Westaway sounds very interesting. Have a wonderful day.
