[Book Blogger Hop] Checking The Pageview Count

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a question and join a "hop". The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another.

For this week's question, Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews asked:

Do you sneak a peek at the number of views your posts have gotten?

My answer:
Oh yes, I always end up looking at how many views my posts have gotten.

However, I try not to obsess over the numbers too much. If a post gets higher views than usual, I just take note of that and try to do more content like that in the future.

I, personally, think there are much more important stats to obsess over, such as page load time which is a stat that I can really work on improving to help my viewers. :)

Thanks for reading!
What are the key stats that you look at for your blog?

  1. It depends on what the post is.

    It isn’t a regular thing I do, but I do look. :)

I never knew you could control load time...thanks for sharing that.

Have a great Friday and weekend, and thanks for sharing the post on Twitter. The Blog Hop is a fun meme...I hope your post helps get others to join in.

    1. Definitely! Page load mostly has to do with the sizing of images, how much you have going on the page that needs to load overall, and other such things :) I've discovered that on many blogs, their excessive use of GIFs really slows things down!

Have a great Friday and weekend as well! And of course! This is my favorite meme, so I'd love to see it grow! :)

  2. I'm always looking at my stats and analytics, at least once a day. It's like I'm addicted!

  3. It's not something I bother with in general. If I needed a particular stat for a reason I'd look but mostly I don't bother.

  4. I don’t obsess over numbers but I do look from time to time. It’s rather depressing a lot of the time so I try not do it often.

  5. Haha I think I look at them once a month...maybe. I just try not to care about it.

  6. I don’t usually look to see how each post is doing each time.
The only thing I do once in a while is check to see which post has the most organic searches and hits.

  7. I probably SHOULD look at page stats more - just to see what people seem to like the most. I do look at unique page views for the month sometimes. I try not to let those things bother me too much though.

  8. I didn't know there was a stat for load time. That's interesting! I don't pay attention to stats such as page views anymore. I used to--but when I began blogging for the numbers instead of for the fun of it--and for myself--I decided it wasn't worth it. Keeping up with the crowd wasn't something I could do without blogging becoming too much of a chore and less fun. Now I just don't care about the numbers, and I am much happier for it.

    1. If you set up Google Analytics you can find that stat there. And I'm totally the same way! If I find myself getting too focused on the numbers, I try to take a break.

  9. I honestly try not to look at my numbers. I know I should as a blogger and whatnot. But I don't want to obsess over it. When I do look at them for reviewing purposes it can get a little discouraging when I see lower numbers on reviews and higher ones on the memes. But I like what I do and I will keep doing it! :)

  10. I definitely look more than I should. Haha. But I try not to get all wrapped up in it, at least.

  11. I look at page views, but like you, I try not to obsess over them. If I notice a post getting more page views than similar posts I may do some digging to try and figure out why though.

Hope you have a great weekend. - Katie

  12. Occasionally I will glance at page views, but stats are not a big thing for me.

  13. I'm surprised that I don't look more actually, but yeah I take a peek too. It's always interesting to see which posts get views and interaction. :)

  14. I don't obsess over the numbers but I look at them weekly. Just to make sure I haven't done horribly. I love data and statistics so I wouldn't call this an obsession. Or should I?

  15. I just recently started and look at them everyday. But I can't figure out why blogger insists on counting my views, even when I do the please do not count me thingy. lol I'm trying to find my "voice" so it helps me see which blogs get more views, and I can adjust accordingly.

    1. That's awesome! Finding your voice can be tricky for sure... But congrats again on starting your blog! <3

  16. I do look and it's not always encouraging I seem to get more views and followers on social media then on my blog itself and I'm not sure how to change that. I am able to find the time to blog but not always cross promote on social media but that's where everything is more visible, It's tricky to say the least. Any advice?
Hope you're having a great weekend!

    1. It's definitely tricky! My follower count took a long time to start growing. I definitely recommend taking part in events if you're able! A couple of events that helped me grow were participating in blogging events like the Bloggiesta and various twitter chats. Then of course, when you're blog hopping, make sure to leave a link to your blog in the comments to help people get to your page and reciprocate the commenting love!
