[Audiobook Review] Room by Emma Donoghue

I read this book for the first time back in April of 2016. When it was picked for my book club, I couldn't wait to give it another read!

I checked the book out from the library, but unfortunately I just didn't have the time to pick it up...

Two days before we were scheduled to meet up to discuss the book, I snagged the audiobook from Libby and listened to it for hours one afternoon on a sped up option, and then finished it up the next day.

[Blogging Discussion] 7 Reasons Why I Won't Follow Your Blog

The 7 Reasons Why I Won't Follow Your Blog

First impressions are everything.

I'm sure you've heard that saying before. But did you know that first impressions are formed in just SEVEN SECONDS? Crazy, right? What can your blog portray in that short amount of time?

Let's do a little activity. Set a timer for seven seconds, pull up your blog's homepage, and get your unbiased thinking cap on. I know, it's really tricky, but try to pretend that you are looking at your blog through a brand-new visitors eyes. Now, hit "Start."

So, were you able to tap into that unbiased mindset? If so, what did you think? Did something jump out at you that you now want to change? I do this test with my blog every few months to make sure I still think it gives off a decent first impression.

Of course, as with anything else, everyone will have different opinions. I certainly do! In fact, I will unfollow or immediately navigate away from certain pages for many different reasons.

Let's dive into my list of the top seven!

Ethan and the Key by Dennis Canfield is a wonderful middle grade fantasy that flashes between the "normal" world and the kingdom of Abentur.

The action begins right away and totally sucks you in. I picked this one up one afternoon and couldn't put it down until I had finished the read.

[Children's Book Review] There's A Bear On My Chair by Ross Collins

Book Review of There's A Bear On My Chair by Ross Collins

There's A Bear On My Chair by Ross Collins is an absolutely adorable story about a frustrated mouse, a lazy bear, and just one chair.

I just had to pick this one up for my coworkers baby shower when I saw the polar bear on the cover. And, in my usual fashion, I just had to read it to make sure it was worth giving as a gift! Spoiler: it is!

[Book Review] Strange Tales in Fiction and Fact by Richard Howard

Book Review of Strange Tales in Fiction and Fact by Richard Howard

Strange Tales in Fiction and Fact by Richard Howard is a beautifully written collection of short stories that will totally captivate you.

I had previously read, and loved, Tales of the Lost by Richard Howard. So when the author offered to send me this collection, I was ecstatic! Unfortunately, my life got insanely busy with my two jobs, wedding planning, staying on top of my honest review requests that were already on the calendar, my two book clubs, and general everyday life things... So quite some time had passed before I was able to pick it up.

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way.

In my review, I wrote:

The Eldritch Heart by Matthew S. Cox is a cute love story that is packed with action from cover to cover! If you're looking for a great YA Fantasy where the princess acts as the stone that bends the river, and fights against outdated beliefs, then this is the right book for you!
