Visiting Sheafe Street Books in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

After posting my blog post about visiting RiverRun Bookstore, I got a whole slew of Portsmouth book shop recommendations! Thank you all so much! I cannot wait to check them all out.

Thank you to JL Stevens for putting Sheafe Street Books on my radar!

Let's dive in!

Visiting Sheafe Street Books in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

While walking around Portsmouth one day, I told myself I would keep an eye out for this shop after JL's recommendation. When my friend Amber and I accidentally stumbled across this sign I was thrilled:

We started down the alleyway, crossed the small street, and arrived outside the bookstore. From the outside, we could see an OPEN flag, a shop sign that read "Sheafe Street Books," and an illuminated sign in the doorway that read "BOOKS."

When I stepped into the shop, I immediately gasped. I LOVE bookshops like this! The cozy atmosphere could be felt immediately. There were so many things that I wanted to look at immediately that I had to pause and start in just one area before moving on to the next.

I definitely could have posted up in this little nook for a while with a nice cup of tea!

This shop was very small, but it was wonderfully organized. There were books EVERYWHERE which gave me some Book Barn flashbacks.

Sheafe Street Books sells both new and used books. I'm sure I could walk out of this store with a whole stack if I let myself really browse.

I already cannot wait to go back here! If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by!

Thanks for reading!

  1. What a lovely place. Not many used bookstores in my neck of the woods so I'm so jealous!

  2. I had thought about doing some bookstore spotlights. There are a couple in my area that I would love to feature because they are just so unique. This looks like a great place to stay awhile lol.
