[Manga Review] The Legend of Zelda Vol. 4 by Akira Himekawa

Manga Review of The Legend of Zelda Vol. 4 by Akira Himekawa

While browsing a local book store for my birthday, my fiancé and I spotted The Legend of Zelda manga series. We debated which book I should try first before finally settled on this one. We picked Volume 4 because it would be the first book if I were to read chronologically (at least from the selection they had, anyway!).

I had never read a manga before, so I was a bit worried that I may not be able to read from right to left very easily. Luckily, I had nothing to worry about! Once I started reading, I flew right through the book! There were only a couple of times that I messed up and read from left to right.

My Trip To The Book Barn in Niantic, Connecticut

July 28th, 2017 was certainly one for the books! I hit the road early in the morning and traveled to Niantic, Connecticut to meet up with a couple of book bloggers and explore The Book Barn.

I admit, I didn't do much research before the trip... I knew there would be lots of books, but I totally underestimated just how many!

The drive itself was over two and a half hours. Luckily, it flew right by and we didn't hit any traffic. My future sister-in-law, Alex, and I arrived much earlier than I expected, so we decided to take a look around while we waited for the meet-up time.

When we first walked into the Main Barn property, I was totally blown away! I had no idea that The Book Barn would be that massive! And then Alex pointed out that there were three other locations! WHAT?!

[Book Review] Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Book Review of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

I am so thrilled that I finally got around to rereading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury! I, like many others, first read this book in high school. From that time, I remembered only that it was a sci-fi about burning books. I knew I had liked the book a lot, but that I wasn't thrilled about how we had to break up the reading to discuss it in chunks.

So what did I think the second time around? Let's dive in!

Note: There will be spoilers!

[Book Review] The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

Book Review of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

When I suggested The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls to my office book club, I warned everyone that it would cover some tough subjects... But I had no idea that the topics would be incredibly hard to read. While the book was beautifully written, I had to keep setting it down and walking away.

My Book Lending Horror Stories

My Book Lending Horror Stories

I would love to be one of those people that can lend out books without having their anxiety go through the roof. Unfortunately, I have just had too many awful situations where leading out a book ended in disaster.

These are my horror stories... *insert Law and Order SVU sound effect here*

(Yes, this post is meant to be overly dramatic.)

[Book Review] The Limpet Syndrome by Tony Moyle

Book Review of The Limpet Syndrome by Tony Moyle

Oh my gosh. I had so much fun reading this book!

When I first read the book synopsis, I thought it would be a bit out of my wheelhouse. But I was very happily proved wrong! I mean, just from this passage, I should have known that this author's humor was going to be a hit with me:

"If you love books about reincarnation, corruption, the human condition, OCD and talking pigeons then this is the book for you. OK, you've never read a book like that before... here's your chance!"

Seriously, give this book a chance! :)

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way.

[Bookish Discussion] 7 Books That Lived Up To The Hype

Bookish Discussion 7 Books That Lived Up To The Hype

Book hype always makes me a bit nervous. I really try to distance myself a bit and start a book only when my expectations of it have leveled out. Sometimes this works, but of course, sometimes it doesn't.

The following are seven books (in no particular order) that I thought totally lived up to the hype.

Bookish Facts About Me (According To My Fiancé)

Bookish Facts About Me (According To My Fiancé)

I've been slowing adding to this blog post whenever Alex said something fitting ever since I wrote 25 Bookish Facts About Me. So it has been quite a while! When I was drafting it up, it was called, "Bookish Facts About Me (According To My Boyfriend)," but yesterday, my boyfriend proposed!

It was so incredibly perfect! Our friends who recently had a baby invited us over to take photos, so we were all dressed up! I took shots of the new family, all the boys with the baby, each friend with the baby... and then one of our friends said, "Okay, now let's get a photo of you two!" So Alex and I posed... and then he was dropping down to one knee.

Our incredible friends were not only there for love and support, but they also caught it all on camera!
